So it looks like, though he was offered the gig, Sangra Eterna helmer Jorge Olguin won’t be directing the forever-in-development remake of Prom Night like we had hoped he would when it was reported here.
Instead, according to Variety this morning, former TV director Nelson McCormick will be making his feature debut on the redux, and the lovely and oh-so-pouty Brittany Snow (pictured, duh) is stepping into the role made famous by Jamie Lee Curtis. Though Snow seems to have a lot of good attributes, she doesn’t exactly have the lung capacity as Curtis did in her heyday, if ya feel me. But it’s a new time when such things aren’t as important as they once were … right?
McCormick has directed everything from “NYPD Blue” to “ER” to “Nip/Tuck”, so at least he’s had a somewhat varied career up to this point, which can only help when trying to work a new spin on an old slasher. We can assume they’ll be going from the Stephen Susco-penned script that’s been floating around Hollywood for a few years now.
More when we know it!
