With this year’s Macbeth having critics bending over backwards, it comes as no surprise that Michael Lesslie is now a hot property. In addition to working alongside the Macbeth guys on the Assassin’s Creed movie, he’ll also script a TV adaptation of Ray Celestin’s novel The Axeman’s Jazz. Macbeth’s production company See-Saw Films will produce.

Based on the true story of the New Orleans serial killer who wrote letters saying that he would spare certain people if they played jazz music at certain times, the series will follow three people trying to put a stop to his horrific crimes.

The scariest thing is that he was never caught or identified. Unlike most serial killers, the “Axeman of New Orleans” never really entered the public conscience, but because of the series, alongside a memorable stint in “American Horror Story: Coven,” a lot more people are going to be aware of these terrible events.
