One of the last things we heard about director Nacho Vigalondo’s Colossal was that the film’s producers were facing a lawsuit from Toho regarding the use of Godzilla in their pitch. Despite this setback, it appears the project is still moving forward with award-winning star Anne Hathaway.

Despite these behind-the-scenes issues, it seems the movie is still in the works. When a curious fan asked Vigalondo about his upcoming projects, the filmmaker revealed he’s working on Colossal. Need proof that this exchange took place? Check out the confirmation below.

Unfortunately, this is all the information we have at the moment. If you’re wondering what this flick is about, take a look at the synopsis below from the Voltage Pictures website. At one time “giant lizard” was replaced by “giant robot,” probably due to Toho filing the aforementioned lawsuit against Voltage.

Hathaway will be playing Gloria in the picture, an ordinary woman who, after losing her job and her fiancé, decides to leave her life in New York to move back to her home town. When news reports start surfacing that a giant monster is destroying the city of Tokyo, Gloria gradually comes to realize that she is connected to these far-off events. In order to prevent further destruction, Gloria needs to determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world.

Since any further details are currently few and far between at the moment, the fate of Nacho Vigalondo’s Colossal still hangs in the balance. We’ll keep you posted if we stumble across anything new.
