Behind the Scenes of Puppet Master: Axis of Evil

Hi, my name is Matt, and I’m a closet Puppet Master fan. I spent a lot of time prowling the shelves of local video stores in the late 80s/early 90s, and the old Paramount releases of these titles were just too irresistible to skip! And while the movies suffered a steep dip in quality after the third entry, I have a good time with the earliest flicks, even today.

That said, we’re getting word that Charles Band and Co. are currently in China shooting Puppet Master: Axis of Evil, and if the last few movies are any indication, I’m not sure how to take this.

Full Moon recently posted a trio of behind-the-scenes videos hosted by Band that feature an extensive tour around the sets of the newest Puppet Master. They’ll supposedly be updating their YouTube Channel daily, so if, like me, you’re a fan of the series, you’ll want to keep an eye on it.

Like I said, I’ve got a soft spot. Charles Band doesn’t always deliver (and sometimes his output is so bad it defies shamelessness), but he certainly seems excited about what will hopefully be a new beginning for Full Moon. I’m aware that their stuff doesn’t approach the world of high art, but some of it is a lot of fun, and I’m personally hoping this next flick will deliver.

Now, Mr. Band, will you please make a Puppet Master movie that picks up after Part II? Don’t make me beg!

I’m interested to see where they take the series from here, actually.

Also, I’d like to see another modern day Puppet Master where the puppets are killers again. Part II is my favorite in the series becuase they were just plain vicious in that one.

I actually dug Puppet Master 4 and 5, though they felt like the same movie twice in a row.

This is one series I think could actually benefit from a remake / reboot. Boil it down into 3 movies, the first one with the Puppets as evil (Puppet Master 1 and 2), one in Nazi Germany (Part 3) and one with the pupptets as good (Part 4 and 5). Most of all, fix those annoying continuity errors! If Six Shooter was in the prequel, why wasn’t he in Part 1 or 2?

But yeah… I really like Puppet Master. Those movies are all kinds of nostalgic for me. I even have one of the Blade figures that’s made from the same mold as the original.
