Partially funded through Kickstarter and produced by the legendary Joe Dante (Gremlins), psychological thriller DarkĀ draws inspiration from 2003’s real-life blackout in New York City. It marks the narrative feature debut of Nick Basile (American Carny), and we’ve got premiere details today.

The indie thriller will make its world premiere at the Oldenburg International Film Festival this September. Dubbed the “European Sundance,” the festival runs this year from September 16-20.

Check out a still below along with the poster art.

The cast includes Michael Eklund (“Bates Motel”), Brendan Sexton (Boys Don’t Cry), Whitney Able (Monsters), and Alexandra Breckenridge (“American Horror Story”).

In Dark, written by Elias and directed by Basile, Able plays a disturbed young woman who must confront her worst fears when she finds herself trapped alone in a New York City loft during the 2003 blackout.
