Director, Star Set for Shutter Redux

Still from the original ShutterDid I miss an announcement at some point? I try to make sure I keep up on everything that’s going on with our genre, as hard a task as that can be sometimes, so I think I would remember a director being named for Vertigo Entertainment’s upcoming remake of Shutter. Maybe I’m just taking way too many drugs.

Anyway, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Infection and Parasite Eve helmer Masayuki Ochiai is in the director’s chair for the redux, which follows an American couple on their honeymoon in Tokyo when mysterious figures start showing up in all their photos and soon seep into the real world as well.

The trade also mentioned that See No Evil/Man-Thing starlet Rachael Taylor (whom you’ll also see in this summer’s Transformers) has jumped on board as the new wife, likely terrified beyond her wits. Though how ghosts could be scarier than Man-Thing I’ll never know.

Tartan will be be releasing the original Shutter on DVD come March 27th; click here to pre-order it through Evilshop! Shooting on the remake is expected to begin in Tokyo next month so stay tuned for more as we learn it!
