New Image and Character Posters Invite You to Crimson Peak; Not a Haunted House Movie Says Guillermo del Toro

Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak opens here in the States on October 16th, and oh boy, does it look like a beautiful and elegant horror show. We got on our hands on a whole lot of goodies here today, so get ready to feast your eyeballs on some truly tasty imagery. Dig in!

First up, Entertainment Weekly shares an exclusive new image from del Toro’s latest horror effort, which features the beautiful Mia Wasikowska and the equally beautiful Crimson Peak set design we’re soon going to take in on the big screen. They also shared some words from the visionary director.

Normally when people address this period, they go for desaturated colors, steel gray, steel blue, or sepia,” says del Toro. “They are trying to evoke old photographs or silver tinting. I didn’t want that. I wanted the movie to feel lush.”

It’s not that at all,” he went on to say, when asked if Crimson Peak is a haunted house movie. “The house is a rotting representation of the family that has inhabited it — it’s like a cage, a ­killing jar that you use to kill butterflies. The house basically is a sinister, sinister trap.”

Legendary Pictures’ Crimson Peak, a co-production with Universal Pictures, is a haunting Gothic horror story directed by the master of dark fairy tales, Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy series, Pacific Rim), written by del Toro and Matthew Robbins, and starring Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam, and Jim Beaver.

Synopsis:
