Paul Feig Talks Ghostbusters Reboot; Balancing Familiar and New Elements

It’s been a couple months since we’ve heard a peep about Paul Feig’s all-female reboot of Ghostbusters, which is fairly surprising given how much information was recently being spilled on an almost daily basis. We don’t have much for you today, but at least it’s something.

In a new interview with MTV (below), Feig provided somewhat of an update on the film, asserting that his reboot will have ties to the original classic but will mostly be its own movie – which is an approach that we wish more franchise reboots would have the balls to take.

You don’t want to pretend the other one didn’t exist, cause that’s a little too in your face, but you also don’t want to be so slavish to the other one,” said Feig, referring to the 1984 Ghostbusters. “So I think we found a really good balance.”

Paul Feig is co-writing the script with Katie Dippold. The cast of ladies includes Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Cecily Strong.
