Humanity Faces Arachnid Invasion in The Plague

There’s no denying that one of the most dangerous things on this planet is the genetically modified food that we often consume, and so it’s not a stretch to posit that the things we eat may end up eating us all. That’s the general idea behind The Plague, and we’ve got the details for ya today!

Deadline reports that Altitude Film Entertainment is re-teaming with the Tea Shop & Film Company to launch The Plague on Cannes buyers. Johannes Roberts will direct from a screenplay by Roberts and Ernest Riera.

In The Plague 16-year-old Alison Knight could never know that the burger she was about to eat would be the catalyst for an outbreak that we are powerless to stop. The spiders, which entered the food chain through contaminated meat, infiltrated grazing cattle herds at lightning speed.  It was only a matter of time before someone became infected.  In warm, moist, safe flesh the eggs hatch.

Millions of innocent people are walking incubators, providing the ideal breeding ground for a terrifying arachnid invasion. Spanning the Brazilian rainforest to London streets, the film tells the story of a devastating, unstoppable outbreak that sweeps the globe.

James Harris and Mark Lane will produce through their Tea Shop & Film Co. banner. Principal photography will begin in summer 2016.
