Oh, No! Michael J. Fox Has Now Retired From Acting

Oh, no! I know he’s kind of been out of the spotlight for a while now, but today we got word that Teen Wolf, The Frighteners, and (of course) Back to the Future actor Michael J. Fox has officially thrown in his hat and retired from acting.
Fox made the announcement in his new memoir, No Time Like the Future.
He writes (via L.A Times): “There is a time for everything, and my time of putting in a twelve-hour workday and memorizing seven pages of dialogue, is best behind me…At least for now … I enter a second retirement. That could change because everything changes. But if this is the end of my acting career, so be it.”
Now, while we all know well and good by this point in time, Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s back in 1991 and has been semi-retired since the year 2000, but now, as his symptoms worsen (yikes), Fox has decided to call it quits altogether.

He continues: “My short-term memory is shot. I always had a real proficiency for lines and memorization. And I had some extreme situations where the last couple of jobs I did were actually really word-heavy parts. I struggled during both of them.”
That said, Michael J. Fox has now found a new passion behind the scenes writing and promises he will continue to write as much as he can.
He says: “I’m down to this. My guitar playing is no good. My sketching is no good anymore, my dancing never was good, and acting is getting tougher to do. So it’s down to writing. Luckily, I really enjoy it.”
Bring on the writing, Michael J. Fox. I’m down to see what the man can do from that angle of the business. And here’s hoping that he will return to the big screen if the powers that be behind the scenes ever decide to – with all due respect – get over themselves and finally commit to bringing us fans Back to the Future Part IV.
