Martyrs (remake)

The remake of the French film Martyrs has been the subject of some really heated discussion amongst the fan base, and it's not a two-sided argument either. As always everyone is rallying for the film to be left alone, but alas, we all knew that wasn't going to happen.

Another writer that has been hot on Hollywood's script list is Mark L. Smith. Smith, who thus far has penned Vacancy and The Hole 3D, has several forks in the fire including the long talked about remake of Pascal Laugier's stunning film Martyrs.

I guess the first bit of news that should be mentioned from AICN’s interview with Martyrs director Pascal Laugier is that an American remake of Martyrs is already in the works. It is, of course, not surprising in the least considering how well received the film has been since its festival debut, but it's a little disappointing nonetheless.
