Cults are a morbidly fascinating topic. We listen to podcasts and binge-watch documentaries digging into cult leaders and how anyone could possibly join a cult. Writer and director Nick Cassavetes understands that fascinating. But with his new film God Is A Bullet, Cassavetes takes a more violent approach to the world of cults as a detective works with a former cult member to save his daughter.

Based on the best-selling novel God Is A Bullet by Boston Teran, the film follows detective Bob Hightower, who finds his ex-wife murdered and his daughter kidnapped by an insidious cult. With the help of the cult’s only female victim escapee, Case Hardin, Bob and Case go down the rabbit hole with The Ferryman to save his daughter and find closure for Case from the cult—and its maniacal leader—that took so much away from her.
