The Best Horror Movies Streaming On Pluto TV

Last updated: May 7, 2024

As usual, Pluto TV is coming in with one of the most glorious genre lineups you’ll get for the low price of zero dollars. The streamer is adding cult classics like Jawbreaker, the nearly forgotten Keanu Reeves gem Johnny Mnemonic, and Dark Crystal for your inner child. They are also reminding us of simpler times with The Addams Family and Addams Family Values. The app is basically healing the part of our psyches that is still upset we weren’t old enough to have a Blockbuster card when those stores were still around. I ran with that spirit and have assembled a thrillingly chaotic list of recommendations for this May.

Check them out below!

Before I Go To Sleep

After suffering a traumatic incident, a woman wakes up every day with no memory of the events before. Eventually, the past and her truth catch up to her, causing her to question what she thinks she knows about herself. They had me at a thriller starring Nicole Kidman, but the added bonus of Colin Firth sent me through the roof. Kidman knows where to find the drama (Big Little Lies and The Undoing), so I love it when she pops up in a mystery.  I cannot wait to make people watch this one.

Labyrinth

A teen’s baby brother is kidnapped by the Goblin King, which forces her to solve a labyrinth to rescue him. The late David Bowie gave us many gifts during his lifetime, but this is arguably his most iconic role. I mean, You Remind Me Of The Babe!makes this film mandatory viewing alone. It doesn’t hurt that Bowie had Jennifer Connelly as support in this trippy endeavor. It also doesn’t hurt that the movie was directed by the late Jim Henson. As a known hater of projects rated PG, this one is not like the others, and I have no choice but to stan.

Predestination

A temporal agent is sent back in time to prevent a bomb from going off in 1975 in New York. Things only get weirder from then. I’m glad Pluto TV is giving this underrated gem a home. After all, the only thing better than a thriller is a thriller with a little time travel. We love it when filmmakers add some razzle-dazzle to a tried and true formula. We also love to see Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook in the same movie.

So I Married an Axe Murderer

A commitmentphobe suspects his partner might have killed her exes. I used to watch the hell out of this movie as a child. However, I have been afraid to go back and see how it aged. I used to sincerely believe that Mike Myers, Nancy Travis, Anthony LaPaglia, and Amanda Plummer gave us cinema. So, revisiting it while it’s on Pluto TV this month makes me nervous, but it’s time. Fingers crossed that this turns out fine for me because I can’t take another loss this year.

Stand By Me

A writer shares the childhood journey that he and his friends took to see the body of a missing boy. Kids are weird, and nobody knows this better than Stephen King. So, is it any wonder he’s responsible for this morbid coming-of-age tale? This cast includes Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O’Connell, and Kiefer Sutherland. While it’s technically not a horror movie, it does see kids facing mortality. Also, the terrifying undercurrent of a missing child whose body is found is chilling. I don’t think this is my most obvious cheat, so I’m asking y’all to stand by me…I’ll see myself out.
