The Long-Delayed Sequel to this Notorious Horror Game is Now Free to Play Via Game Pass!

Back in September 2011, Dead Island was released to a pretty lukewarm reception. But as time passed, there seemed to be a swell around the game. This is partly due to the game community on PC, where modding took the zombie apocalypse to the next level with mods like the George Romero survival mod.

This mod made it so zombies can only take damage from hitting their heads, along with other changes. This, mixed with its exciting focus on multiplayer, made it one of a kind for its time.

After a few years, during E3 2014 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) with a much different style, we got a fantastic trailer for the potential sequel Dead Island 2. With the original developers of Dead Island moving over to Dying Light, Yagr Development (Spec Ops: The Line) took over developing the sequel.

Dead Island 2 would then enter one of the more public development hell cycles. Changing developers four times through its almost ten-year development cycle. In August 2019, Deep Silver announced that Dambuster Studios, an internal development team of Depp Silver, would take over the development of the long-awaited title.

Eventually, showing itself off during Gamescom 2022 with a reveal trailer showing off just how much the game has changed. With a new release date of February, it was eventually delayed to April of 2023. After a tumultuous development cycle, Damnbuster Studio ultimately brought the fans what they had been waiting almost a decade for Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 is precisely what the sequel needed to be: a fun, Arcady, bloody, and gory zombie story told in Hollywood. Specifically, their damage system is something incredible that needs to be experienced firsthand. With today’s news of Dead Island 2 being available on Game Pass, everyone with a subscription can!

Dread Central dived into Dead Island 2 before focusing on this gore system. It was very reminiscent of the original game concept trailer way back in 2009.
