Quite possibly the most fondly remembered location in Grindhouse culture is Manhattan’s 42nd Street. Its constantly burgeoning population of crazies, pimps, drug dealers, hustlers, prostitutes and sleaze-filled movie theatres proved to be Mecca for fans of all things extreme and outlandish.

Indie filmmaker Jeff Chitty is hard at work doing post-production on his upcoming feature, The Taking of Savannah, but that's not stopping him from launching a few other ventures: exploitation/cult film download site Digital Grindhouse Retro and hardcore horror/splatterpunk short story download site Macabro Xtreme Publishing. Even though it pretty much failed as a box office experiment we're all pretty big fans of the Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino celebration of gory B Movies that was Grindhouse. And while fans were divided on which movie was better, Planet Terror or Death Proof everyone pretty much agreed on one thing -- the faux trailers between the features were friggin' amazing!

Those of you still waiting for the Grindhouse films Planet Terror and Death Proof to hit DVD in a complete theatrical package (with the faux trailers!) might just have a reason to rejoice.

Those of you lucky enough to have seen Grindhouse during its theatrical run can attest that the faux trailers were arguably the best part of the whole experience. And while we’re still waiting for the Weinstein Company to do the right thing and offer fans The Complete Grindhouse Experience on DVD and Blu-ray, Robert Rodriguez isn’t waiting any longer to turn his trailer for Machete into a feature length film!

Ed note: You may not know the name Joe Lynch yet, but something tells me when Wrong Turn 2 comes out later this year you'll be wishing you did. Joe's been a friend of the site for a while now and has some very strong opinions about the Weinsteins' recent comments about possibly splitting up the Grindhouse movies in an attempt to recuoup their costs. We just had to get the man's voice out there cause damnit, he's right! Enjoy!

Who doesn't love toys these days? Long gone are the days of stiff limbed Love Boat action figures and Mego but in their stead is the amazing NECA. This company came in and cleaned up the mess others left movie licenses in. Is there more steam or movies left to keep the train running? Oh yeah!
