10+ Horror Movies That Don’t Exist But Were Seen in Other Movies and Shows

Have you heard of the term “nested story”? It refers to a tale within a tale and they’re common in novels. But “nested stories” also pop up in movies and television as well. A perfect and exceptionally meta example would be the Stab movies in the Scream franchise.

Now, there’s a place you can visit (virtually, of course) where all of your favorite “nested stories” from film and television have been cataloged for your enjoyment. Nestflix.fun is the brainchild of web developer and digital illustrator Lynn Fisher.

“I had this [concept] in my backlog for a while,” Fisher tells EW. “Years ago, finding out that Angels With Filthy Souls from Home Alone was a fake movie, I think that sparked something. From that moment, you notice it more. More recently, Dierdre and Margaret in The Good Place was one. The Crows Have Eyes from Schitt’s Creek. They released a trailer for it! I feel like that was really meta and fun.”

Think of it like Netflix—except none of the movies are real. Of course, you can’t actually Play this meta-content (copyright issues), but a lot of it is still floating around on YouTube (as you’ll soon see). And like Netflix, Nestflix is divided into categories. Of course, there’s a Horror section!

And of course, it inspired us to do a Top 10 list! Be sure to visit them at your leisure. For a taste of what awaits you, check out our “Top 10+ Horror Movies That Don’t Actually Exist” (as Sourced by Nestflix), below.

Bonus Entry/Glaring Omission

Mosquito, The Attack of the Amazing Electrified Man (with “Shock-o-Scope”), and The Stench (with “Odorama”)

As seen in: Popcorn (1991)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-DgRbDmSic

Nestflix doesn’t include the three films that were part of the horror movie festival in 1991’s Popcorn. Luckily, the site has a “Contribute” option! Hopefully, they’ll remedy this omission soon! I was able to find a clip of Mosquito on YouTube (above) but not the other two.
