I don't know I'm stuck on 'Private Hell' today....

Private Hell

Give away a love
And then remove another too
Painted words adorn the walls
Echoing untrue

I feel cold....Uh huh

Promises abound
You rarely find it to begin
Maybe I'm afraid to let you
All the way in

I guess so....Uh huh

I excuse myself
I'm used to my little cell
I amuse myself
in my very own private hell

Lately I'm beside myself
Pretending, unconcerned
Standing on a corner
Where I threw you on a turn

I'll move on....Uh huh

Flowers on a cross remain
Mark an ending scene
Damn it all if blood you spill
Turn the grass more green

Life is short....Uh huh

I excuse myself
I'm used to my little cell
I amuse myself
In my very own private hell

Cantrell seems to have written most of the album. The lyrics and vocals in Alice Chains has always seemed to take the forefront of their music to me. Cantrell is a great guitarist and 'Private Hell' has a good though short solo but to me his playing takes a back seat. Maybe it's just me.

Also, keep a look out for Shrinebuilder. It's Wino on guitar, Dale Crover on drums, Al Cisneros on bass, and my old pal SCott from Neurosis on guitar/vox. This stuff cruuuuushes.

Fuckin' awesome. I'll check out anything Wino's involved in. Kind of interested to hear what Crover sounds like, these days, too.

Cantrell isn't David Gilmour or even Iommi for that matter. Got the latest Heaven & Hell sitting right here.

I don't think Alice In Chains is about guitar really.

Seeing them live...Cantrell can tear it up. Regardless, Cantrell comes up with some great sounding riffs..and just cool as hell solo. The new Heaven and Hell is ok...not a bad album, just not great in my opinion.

Totally agree about the Heaven and Hell album. I don't really expect these guys to put out something great at this point. It just makes me fuckin smile listening to it though. It's so old-school and ominous sounding. I don't know how Dio has preserved his voice so well. Although I like Bruce and Halford more, Dio still has an amazing amount of range moreso than those guys. Iommi is great though. Live in the studio, doesn't matter. I also love the album cover and the rest of the art. As far as I'm concerned this IS Black Sabbath.

As a matter of fact Dio, the band, opened for Iron Maiden the last time I saw them and all I could do was laugh. I was in the 6th row and everyone around me was looking at me funny and wondering what the fuck I was doing there. That was amusing. Then Motorhead came on and I was like fuck Dio and started to rock. Also it was funny I was wearing a Dale Earnhardt jersey and after they got done Lemmy pointed me out and yelled out "EARNHARDT!" That was cool and I was hoping for a second he'd bring me back stage at which point I would have thanked him and then started looking for Maiden. Haha.

When Dio was with Rainbow, that was amazing...

And even though Heaven and Hell's album isn't amazing..its decent and better than 90% of the bullshit thats coming out today...
