‘Desperate Souls’: An Erotic Horror Fantasy Of Your Nightmares [Giallo Julian’s Indie Spotlight]

Have another one coming in hot, Blood Babes. Acrostar Films—the studio that brought us Trepidity and It Came From Somewhere —is hard at work creating their next feature, full of supernatural romance and murder. I know, what a combo, right? Some may even say THE combo. It’s titled Desperate Souls

Read the full synopsis below:

“Living in the endless void of the afterlife, Moira survives on the lust, despair, and grief of men, an existence this enchantress has known for eons as a succubus. Using her exquisite beauty, she lures them with false hopes of relief from the mental pain before consuming their broken souls. When Moira hears the cries of Devin, a man whose life dances on the edge of a razor blade, she’s drawn to a pain she’s never felt before. Discovering they both found what they have longed for, Moira is determined to keep them together and not let anyone stand in their way, no matter who she must kill.”

S.J. Hermann takes the helm of director, which is appropriate given that he wrote the short story the film’s based on.

“Taking a 34-page erotic short story and turning it into a feature length horror/romance film wasn’t too difficult. He has taken the essence of what the story is about, two souls seeking meaning to their lives, and filled any gaps with intense horror. This is a film that is far different than what he has done before, but with the talent that has been assembled for this film, it is truly an amazing film.”

Desperate Souls Indiegogo

Angel Bradford stars as Moira, while Joe Rosing takes the role of Devin. Rounding out the rest of the cast is Magdalena Conway, Jake Yanko, Sarah Dolan, Jamie Apple, Mia Katz, Amy O’Brien, Nathan O’Brien, and Gwyneviere Ray.

Desperate Souls will also incorporate practical SFX, supplied by Jamie Apple. Additionally, because obviously a story starring a succubus is gonna involve scenes of a spicier variety, Isabella Alonso was brought on to serve as an Intimacy Coordinator.

Desperate Souls required special effects to bring Moira to life in her demon form as a succubus. Custom prosthetics include wings, horns, and special effects makeup for wounds and aging as the succubus draws energy from men during intercourse. An intimacy coordinator choreographed scenes with sexual activity. The film does not include nudity but instead portrays realistic intimacy.”
