Though we've been talking about it for a couple of weeks, Derek Mears finally made it official at this year's Rock and Shock convention in Worcester, MA! He is totally confirmed to be on board for Predators!

Given the success of this year's remake of Friday the 13th (it did, after all, rake in a total domestic gross of $65 million), we figured we'd be seeing a sequel at some point. And now we know exactly when Friday the 13th Part 2 -- the 13th film in the series -- will be making its box office debut.

Given the immensely rising popularity of Mixed Martial Arts, I would not be at all shocked if some enterprising filmmaker eventually devises a slasher movie based around the world of MMA. But contrary to what some of you may have heard on the Internet in the past 24 hours, no, a former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight is not the new Jason Voorhees.

We all hate rumors, but damnit this one is too juicy to pass up! Derek Mears, whom you will remember as Jason in the Friday the 13th remake, could be suiting up for the new Predator reboot. If it happens? Talk about perfect casting.

Our brothers in harm over at STYD scored themselves the first look at Jason flaunting his sack from the upcoming Platinum Dunes remake of Friday the 13th. Gotta say, I still dig this look a bit more than the hockey mask, but then again ... I'm old school.
