Convention
In a departure from my long-standing and hopefully generally objective approach to genre journalism, in regard to this past weekend’s Monsterpalooza 3 (see our extensive photo gallery below), I’d like to comment, “OMFG this show is the most fucking amazing horror convention anyone has ever attended!”
Last year the folks at Fourth Castle Micromedia, home of FearWerx and EMCE Toys, celebrated the 100th anniversary of the monster movie with a special weekend-long marathon of horror movies hosted LIVE from the HorrorHound Weekend convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
This Thursday, March 25th, Supernatural returns after a seemingly interminable winter hiatus, and as if that's not enough for fans of the show to get excited about, there's also Creation's Los Angeles Salute to Supernatural, which runs March 26th-28th.
Wish you could check out the world-famous San Diego Comic-Con but can't spare the time and money for a trip to San Diego? This Memorial Day weekend, May 28-30, 2010, be a part of "Ground Zero" at the first annual L.A. Rock'n Comic-Con held at the Pasadena Convention Center & Civic Auditorium.
**UPDATE: A ton of pics have just been added to the WoH gallery, so be sure to check it out!**
Our friends over at Icons of Fright got word that a familiar convention is making its way back to the Big Apple.
You have just got to love the convention circuit. There's so much to do, so much to see, and so much cool shit to buy it's usually our wallets that end up in agony. My credit cards are still burning from the days of Chiller gone by!
I'll never forget my first time, man. I was barely a teenager. After what (even at that young age) seemed like years of anticipation, the time had come for me to become a man.
Do you have plans to be in or around the LA area this weekend but aren't sure what to do with yourself?
Finally we can start talking about Fear Fest 3, once again presented by Pit of Horror and Dread Central! Though the second show was only a month ago, it seems like it’s been forever since we mentioned it on the site. Strange how such a short time can feel so long. I bet it’s the drugs...
I’m not exaggerating when I say that Monster-Mania is one of the best run convention series in the world. I feel that since I cover around 8 conventions a year, I’m qualified to say this! At every show I like to talk to vendors and celebs alike to see who is doing well and what their experiences are like. It’s the suit in me.
Numerous sci-fi TV shows have been given their own conventions, but the same can't be said for their horror cousins.
Things started off badly. Flights were canceled. Dallas was snowed in. There was so much more to do and no way to get it done. Sometimes it feels as if every force in the universe is aligned against you. But there's a job to get done. Thousands of fans were lining up for a fun weekend, and by hook or by crook they were going to get it. Besides, we had some serious partying to do, and nothing was going to get in the way of that!
