Watch A Severed Hand Search For Its Owner In Trailer For French Animated Feature I LOST MY BODY

You can’t accuse the makers of the upcoming animated feature I Lost My Body of false advertising, because the film is about exactly what it sounds like. The award-winning French cartoon tells the story of a severed hand which escapes from a laboratory and sets out on a journey to be reunited with its lost body, and if that seems like a super weird premise, it’s because it is.

Thanks to Empire, you can watch the trailer for this freaky animated feature in the player above. We can see that the severed hand will encounter everything from flowing rivers to swarms of rats throughout its quest, so we can only hope it reaches the end with all its fingers intact. As well as the hand, the story will also focus on its owner, Naoufel, who delivers pizzas for a living. Which can’t be an easy job with only one hand, but he finds a way.

I Lost My Body was directed by Jérémy Clapin, and produced by Paris-based animation company Xilam. Based on the novel Happy Hand by Guillaume Laurent, the film became the first animated feature to win the Nespresso Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, with Netflix purchasing worldwide distribution rights shortly after. The film will be released on the streaming service on November 15, and will also receive a limited theatrical release in the UK on November 22.

You also don’t need to worry about bad dubbing, because Clapin was personally involved with the English dub to ensure that it remained as authentic to the original script as possible. The English voice cast will include Dev Patel, Alia Shawkat, and George Wendt.
