Around here, author Bret Easton Ellis is most famous for penning the novel American Psycho was based on. And now Ellis is back in the serial killer game with Smiley Face Killers. The film will be directed by Tim Hunter and shooting has officially begun.

On top of that, Variety reports that Crispin Glover (who starred in director Tim Hunter’s River’s Edge) has joined the cast, and will be joined by “Scream: The TV Series” star Amadeus Serafini and “Dead of Summer” star Ronen Rubinstein, who will play the lead.

Rounding out the cast will be Mia Serafino, Garrett Coffey, Australian pop star Cody Simpson, and Ashley Rickards.

The film’s plot is under tight wraps but we know the film is “based on actual events and the conspiracy theories that have arisen on the internet as a result of serial deaths of young men that shared common characteristics.”

Braxton Pope is producing with David Wulf and Ellis. Jason Miller of Silver State Productions is executive producing.

We’ll let you know when we hear more!
