AFM: Take the Road Train to Terror

It's been about a year since we last updated you on the new Aussie horror movie called Road Train, but now thanks to AFM we have some art and even a trailer for you guys to dig on!

International Trailer - The Horseman

Not to be confused with the Platinum Dunes crapfest of nearly the same title, the highly acclaimed Aussie fright fest The Horseman (review here) is hitting UK cinemas on October 30th, 2009, and we've got a look at the international trailer for you.

Ian Somerhalder Ready to Rock Cradlewood

It's only been on a few weeks, but we have to admit one of our newest guilty pleasures is The CW's "The Vampire Diaries", and the main reason is Ian Somerhalder's flamboyant portrayal of the oh-so-bad vamp brother Damon Salvatore. Which ensures that we'll be keeping tabs on his newly announced involvement in the "Gothic fairytale" Cradlewood.

First Details: The Reef Shows its Teeth

Sharks are probably one of the scariest creatures on the planet. There's just no reasoning with them. You're not a person in their cold black eyes. You, just like everything else in their way, are simply lunch. Hell, depending on your size, maybe even just a snack! It's that very justified fear of these creatures that the filmmakers behind The Reef hope to tap into.

Details and Pictures Emerge for The Loved Ones

As with My Son, My Son in the story below, thanks to the official site for the Toronto Film Festival (which runs from September 10-19), we're getting more details on the movies that are being screened, including one that's generated quite a bit of buzz in its homeland of Australia, Sean Byrne's The Loved Ones.

I Know How Many Runs Premiering at A Night of Horror IFF

Lake Mungo Poster

There’s not a helluva lot more to report, but IMP Awards got their hands on the poster for Lake Mungo, the Australian film about a family mourning the loss of their 16-year-old daughter. Strange events start happening after her burial that force the family to take a hard look at what their little girl was into before she died.

Jamie Blanks On for 3D Flies

Is it true that not only has a 3D film never come out of Australia, but that there’s never been a nature-run-amok movie about flies? I can’t come up with one of either off the top of my head, though I’m sure The Foywonder will chime in if the latter isn’t accurate.

Four Minutes of Lake Mungo

I really can’t help but hate the title for the new Australian spook story Lake Mungo; I wish I could. There’s just something so goofy about it, maybe because it’s so similar to “Mongo”? Whatever the case, the film itself looks pretty slick, as is evident by a four minute clip that showed up over on cinematographer John Brawley’s site.

First Word on Aussie Thriller Road Train

Today a nice long, chunky synopsis appeared online for a new Aussie horror movie in the works called Road Train. Personally it’s the first I’ve heard of it, but from the sounds of it we could be in for an interesting treat.

Vantage to Remake Lake Mungo

I detected some rumblings about Lake Mungo during AFM but have yet to hear anything as to whether or not it’s any good. The Aussie film, which premiered under Darclight at AFM, is now being remade in the States by Paramount Vantage, according to THR this morning.

The Outback Haunted by The Ghosts...

Know how a situation can go from bad to worse? Like you’re out for a stroll and accidentally fall into a manhole, breaking your legs, losing your memory … and then the CHUDs come after you? Something similar is going on in the Australian indie film The Ghosts, which we just got the first word on and images from today.
