Development Hell: Neill Blomkamp’s Alien V What Happened?

Neill Blomkamp's ALIEN V

Revisit the fifth episode of the Development Hell podcast featuring one of the greatest cancelled films of all time: Neill Blomkamp’s ALIEN V!

Josh talks with Joe Lipsett (co-host of the Bloody-Disgusting Horror Queers podcast) all about this never-made ALIEN sequel from the creator of the Oscar-nominated DISTRICT 9.

In 2014, filmmaker Neill Blomkamp released a series of concept illustrations for a potential ALIEN sequel commissioned by artist Geoffroy Thoorens.

Fan interest became serious. Soon 20th Century Fox announced they had hired Blomkamp to direct a new ALIEN film.

Subsequently even Sigourney Weaver had expressed her support of a Blomkamp helmed sequel during the promotional run for their joint sci-fi film CHAPPIE

First up the listen in as Josh and Joe go spelunking into the context of previous franchise installment ALIEN: RESURRECTION.

Listen in as the duo continue dishing on their personal histories with the long running sci-fi horror series.

Then these two dive into the many failed iterations of ALIEN V, and all of the drama that plagued it’s path, from Joss Whedon to Ridley Scott and beyond…
