It’s hard to believe that it was almost five years ago that we first got a look at the early trailer for British zombie flick Darkest Day. Things were silent since, but we now have word that the flick has been picked up for UK distribution by Left Films and will have a special theatrical run prior to its May 25 DVD release.

Darkest Day is directed by and stars Dan Rickard (who provided special effects on The Dead and The Dead 2: India) alongside Chris Wandell, Samantha Bolter and Richard Wilkinson.

The film’s premiere screening will take place at The Gate, in London’s Notting Hill, 21:00 on Monday, May 11. Tickets can be purchased online here.

After that, additional screenings will be available as follows:

Sunday, May 24, 14:00 – No6 Cinema, Portsmouth
Monday, May 25, 21:00 – Duke’s at Komedia, Brighton
Tuesday, May 26, 20:30 – Stratford East Picturehouse, Stratford, London
Tickets for each screening can be purchased online from the Ourscreen website.

Synopsis:
Dan wakes up on a beach with no memory. He discovers an empty city ravaged by a deadly virus. After befriending a small group of survivors, it soon becomes clear the Army is hunting him down, and the group members are forced on a dangerous journey to escape.
