‘Faces of Death’ Stars Dacre Montgomery and Barbie Ferreira on ‘The House That Jack Built’ and Shocking Horror

Shudder and IFC release Faces of Death today, only in theaters, and to celebrate I’m sitting down with the two stars of the reboot, Barbie Ferreira and Dacre Montgomery, to talk all things disturbing horror.

In the two video interviews below you’ll find my conversations with the stars all about the horror movies that ruined their childhoods and the dark music they listened to when getting into character. Check them out here:

On the movies that terrify them:

On the music that got them into character:

In Faces of Death, now in theaters, a woman (Ferreira) working as a content moderator for a major video platform discovers what appears to be reenactments of murders from the original film. In an online world where nothing can be trusted, she must determine whether the violence is fiction or unfolding in real time.

In my 4-star review of the film, I wrote that while “real-world atrocities, violence, and death are endlessly circulated, commodified, and consumed with easy access, the Faces of Death reboot can be flagged as content that’s both dangerous and urgent.”
