‘Tales From the Crypt’ Finally Heads to Streaming Soon; Shudder Lands Full Series

Good news, kiddies. Shudder is doing the lord’s work, bringing HBO’s cult anthology Tales from the Crypt back from the dead next month. The streamer will roll out all seven seasons of the long-unavailable series, completely uncut.

Things begin May 1, with additional seasons dropping weekly on Fridays through mid-June. That’s a steady return of one of horror TV’s defining shows, hosted by the Crypt Keeper as voiced by the legendary John Kassir. The killer news was announced out of the Overlook Film Festival.

Pulled from the ooey-gooey madness of the origina 1950s EC Comics, Tales from the Crypt made its name by gleefully crossing the lines of good taste. Each standalone story mixes jet-black humor with cruel, ironic morality tales, where terrible people meet even worse ends.

Before HBO became synonymous with prestige television, this was the kind of boundary-pushing programming that helped shape its identity.

The show also pulled in an impressive range of talent. Brad Pitt, Demi Moore, and Steve Buscemi all appeared on screen, while directors like Robert Zemeckis and Tobe Hooper stepped behind the camera.
