Emma Roberts Nearly Had a Cameo in ‘Scream 7’ as ‘Scream 4’ Character, Jill Roberts!

Not long ago, we reported that there was once a plan in place to have a Scream trilogy centered around Scream 4‘s fan-favorite Ghostface, Jill Roberts (Emma Roberts). The story would have revolved around Jill surviving the events of the film and facing off against another Ghostface in college. And now today, we’ve discovered that the character almost had a cameo in Scream 7!

In a chat with Happy Horror Time, franchise creator/Scream 7 director Kevin Williamson revealed he pushed hard for Jill to appear in the latest sequel.

“Since it was Sidney related, I felt like 1 through 4 needed to be represented,” said Williamson. “I desperately wanted Emma Roberts. Because that movie’s not represented. And I wanted her so badly. And I asked her like three times. But… the schedule or something didn’t work. It just didn’t work out for her. She couldn’t make it.”

Williamson describes how he also tried to get Timothy Olyphant back to cameo as his Scream 2 Ghostface, Mickey. “I think we reached out to him, but he couldn’t do it.”

If you’ve seen Scream 7, then you already know the film features cameos from past Ghostface killers such as Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard), Roman Bridger (Scott Foley), and Nancy Loomis (Laurie Metcalf). All part of an AI-program used by Ghostface, but featuring the actual actors reprising their roles. How cool would that have been to have Roberts and Olyphant back in their respective roles as well, if only briefly? Go ahead and chuck that into the deep, dark pit of horror history’s missed opportunities.

Scream 7 is now slashing in theaters.
