Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell Headline ‘Single White Female’ Remake

The 1990s can never really stay dead forever. A year after Hulu and filmmaker Michelle Garza Cervera revived the trashy cult-hit The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, writer Sarah DeLappe (Bodies, Bodies, Bodies) has been tapped to pen the remake of Barbet Schroeder’s 1992 thriller, Single White Female.

Jenna Ortega (Wednesday, Scream) is set to star in the remake alongside Taylor Russell (Bones and All, Escape Room). Sony’s 3000 Pictures is producing.
Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh starred in the original adaptation of John Lutz’s novel, propelling both to considerable fame. A long-delayed sequel, the aptly-titled Single White Female 2, was released direct-to-video in 2005 to, well… considerably less acclaim.
If we’re going to cull fashion and music from the 1990s, I’m all for taking its domestic thrillers and bringing them back. When can we expect a remake of The Good Son? Stay tuned to Dread Central for more.
