Today Dread Central is psyched to exclusively reveal the music video for the new Kurt Deimer single “Scared To Death”. A musician, actor, and film producer, Deimer announces the track as the lead single off his sophomore full-length album, A Grog Is Born, releasing Friday, May 8th via Bald Man Records.

Scared To Death also happens to be the title of Deimer’s forthcoming horror-comedy, and it’s a tie-in for the books. The film stars genre powerhouses Lin Shaye (Insidious) and Bill Moseley (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), and itself lands in theaters March 13th via Atlas Distribution. Deimer appears in the irreverent genre release as the scene-stealing character, The Grog.

In the film, a group of filmmakers attend a séance at an abandoned children’s orphanage to do research for a horror movie. Soon, supernatural events begin to manifest, in both horrific and darkly comical fashion. That’s their first mistake. Both the film and music video were directed by the legendary Paul Boyd.

A Grog Is Born is produced by five-time GRAMMY-winning producer Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Breaking Benjamin) and finds Deimer taking a major leap as a vocalist and bandleader. Informed by his years on the road, the project sees the musical icon explore brooding Gregorian-rock on track “800 AD,” truly beautiful atmosphere on “True,” and entering a twangy tale of destruction and salvation via standout song “Always There.”

The album will include a guest appearance from Queensrÿche legend Geoff Tate on “Silent Lucidity,” as well as a heavy recreation of the Phil Collins iconic track “In the Air Tonight.” Pre-order the album A Grog Is Born right here.

On the new record, Deimer shares: “I think you can tell—we’re taking our game to the next level,” Deimer proclaims. “I think this second album really shows the fans my progression as a singer and our progression as a band.” It also shows his progression as an all-around multi-talent. The music, the movies, the videos—it’s now all intertwined.”
