‘Black Mirror’ Will Return to Netflix for Season 8, Says Creator: “Just in time for reality to catch up”

Black Mirror is officially set to return to Netflix for an eighth season, with creator Charlie Brooker already writing the next chapter of the long-running dystopian anthology.
“I can confirm that Black Mirror will return, just in time for reality to catch up with it,” Brooker said. “So, that’s exciting. That chunk of my brain has already been activated and is whirring away.”
Brooker noted that Season 8 is being shaped using the same creative framework he’s relied on since the series began. “Well, what haven’t we done yet, and what tone am I looking for?” he explained. “It’s a useful thought experiment when approaching a new story. Where does this track come on the album, and what musical direction are we going to go into?”
No casting details or plot specifics have been revealed. Brooker previously told Deadline that Season 7 leaned closer to the show’s earlier, more tech-focused roots, while Season 6 explored darker, more overtly horrific territory under its “Red Mirror” banner.
The announcement comes as Black Mirror Season 7 receives Golden Globe recognition, including a nomination for Best Limited or Anthology Series, with acting nods for Rashida Jones and Paul Giamatti. More details on Season 8 are expected soon.
