The Most-Watched Thriller on Hulu Has ‘Nosferatu’ Star Bill Skarsgård Losing Control

Bill Skarsgård has the sauce. About modern horror icons, he’s as close as any to defining the era. Whether it’s starring as Pennywise in the modern It universe, popping in as a surprise Barbarian cameo, or leading the remake charge in Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, Skarsgård has his hands firmly in the horror pot, and he’s often the best thing about any respective project. He even got his start in the genre, first reaching critical acclaim with his starring role in Netflix horror series Hemlock Grove.

And what’s on the horizon? Dead Man’s Wire, The Death of Robin Hood, and several other genre projects. He’s pretty much everywhere, and his last four theatrical releases have all been genre projects, too. Yet, while The Crow and Nosferatu might be the big headliners, Skarsgård quietly led one of the best thrillers of the year back in March. Now, the film is the most-streamed movie on Hulu. Lock in and learn more about Locked below:
Per Hulu: From producer Sam Raimi, this horror-thriller follows a petty thief (Bill Skarsgård) who breaks into the wrong car and becomes prey to its vengeful owner (Anthony Hopkins). Eddie faces a deadly game of survival, where escape is an illusion, and justice shifts into high gear.
Locked is the kind of tight, high-concept thriller we don’t get nearly enough of these days. Skarsgård and Hopkins are at their best, and they keep Locked grounded despite the ever-increasing lunacy on display. With Sam Raimi producing, Locked is also just deliciously nasty, never skimping on the gore despite the constrained setting.

Locked is one of my favorite thrillers of the year. In my review of the film, I wrote, “Locked is still worth checking out, if only to see one of this generation’s best and weirdest performers single-handedly crash out against a capitalistic culture of indifference. Never change, Bill Skarsgård, though maybe confirm whether the next car you break into belongs to a two-time Oscar winner or not.” Honestly, it’s worth watching for Skarsgård alone. He’s gritty, funny, and all too easy to sympathize with as a man working against a system designed to constrain him.
What do you think? Any plans to crash out and lock in with Locked on Hulu? If you do, let me know what you think over on Twitter @Chadiscollins. Skarsgård stan accounts, this is your moment.
