EXCLUSIVE: ‘Friday the 13th’ Series ‘Crystal Lake’ Reportedly Features Adult Jason Voorhees
Dread Central has learned from reliable production insiders that Schuyler White, a seasoned creature and stunt performer, is in talks to appear as adult Jason Voorhees in Crystal Lake, the forthcoming Friday the 13th prequel series from Peacock and A24. While Peacock has not officially confirmed the casting, this would mark the first news of an adult Jason appearing in the series.
Two other significant castings have been confirmed: Linda Cardellini will portray Pamela Voorhees, and Callum Vinson is set to play young Jason, the boy whose fate was the catalyst for the entire Voorhees legacy.
Notably, Crystal Lake has undergone a major creative shift. Original showrunner Bryan Fuller exited the project amid reported creative differences. Brad Caleb Kane (known for the upcoming HBO Max series It: Welcome to Derry) has since taken over as creator and lead showrunner. The series has been retooled under Kane’s vision.
The exact nature of White’s potential appearance remains under wraps. Could adult Jason emerge in a flash-forward, hallucination, or prophetic dream sequence? The mystery deepens. According to White’s IMDb bio, he is the owner of Ohio Burn Unit and an 11-time Guinness World Record holder for fire stunts, including “most people on fire” and “tallest fire breath.”
White is also credited with stunt work on horror projects such as Haunt, The Bye Bye Man, and V/H/S/85. More notably, he’s an experienced special effects artist with a keen focus on pyrotechnics. That makes us wonder just what kind of blazing Jason mayhem we might witness when Crystal Lake finally surfaces?
Billed as something of an expanded prequel, Crystal Lake is shaping up to be one of the most mysterious entries in the Friday the 13th franchise, potentially blending origin story with something new.
