I want Stephen King’s life. I want to write horror stories and sit around watching all kinds of different movies and television shows on streaming. If you’re new to Dread Central, this might surprise you, but for everyone else, yes, Stephen King regularly uses his social media presence to spotlight what he’s been enjoying lately. It’s honestly great. I love when artists support artists, and I love it even more when they’re committed to loving something everyone else dislikes. As a Darkness Falls fan, I feel your Night Swim love, Stephen King.

One of the master of horror’s earliest recommendations was an underrated Netflix thriller series. Yes, I know, there are a lot of them, so it’s hard to keep up. Luckily, King is making his way through most of them, though you might have missed the kind words he had for Greg Haddrick’s Pine Gap. The series is still streaming on Netflix, and you can check it out for yourself now.

Learn more about the cult Netflix series below:

Per Netflix: The stakes are high in this political drama series that follows the inner workings of an intelligence facility.

Pine Gap wasn’t a critical hit at first. In fact, critical reviews remain pretty bleak. On review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, Pine Gap is sitting at a rotten score of 52%. Luckily, audience reviews are much stronger. In recent years, Pine Gap has developed something akin to a cult audience. Much like Netflix hit The Killing, it’s a show few have seen, but an absolute gem among those who have checked it out. The series has become more popular in recent years, and it’s definitely one of the most underrated shows currently streaming on the platform.

When the series first premiered on Netflix, Stephen King counted himself among Pine Gap’s early fans. In a tweet about the series, King remarked that the series was “a good one,” adding, “the whodunit aspect is beautifully handled. Hoping for Season 2.” You can check out the tweet in full below, alongside a reply that speaks to my soul.
