‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Trailer Gets Bloodier Than Ever

It’s the summer of the franchise reboots, whether it be the new Final Destination film or Jennifer Kaytin Robinson‘s upcoming take on the iconic slasher, I Know What You Did Last Summer, which just got its first official trailer. Based on a story by Robinson and Leah McKendrick and a script by Robinson and Sam Lansky (and featuring some iconic cameos from Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr.), Robinson is resurrecting the classic slasher with a new take on urban legends and gnarly deaths.
In the franchise reboot:
When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.
Now check out the official trailer:
Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King. Tyriq Withers. Sarah Pidgeon. Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, Austin Nichols, Lola Tung, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez star in the film, with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt reprising their roles from the original 1997 slasher.
Robinson is a perfect choice for tackling a new feature adaptation of the film (Prime Video adapted the story into a series in 2021) after directing films like Do Revenge. She knows how to craft a twisty story all while capturing the nuances of young adult friendships, especially between women.
Neal H. Moritz produced the film. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, Jackie Shenoo, and Karina Rahardja serve as executive producers.
I Know What You Did Last Summer comes exclusively to theaters on July 18, 2025.
