In anticipation of Godzilla‘s presence at the upcoming SXSW 2014, where the original classic film will be playing, Legendary has released a new behind-the-scenes still from the remake.
Keep your eyes on the SXSW 2014 website for more details regarding the original’s screening (date TBD), but here’s what we know so far:
The 1954 classic Godzilla is one of the most influential monster films of all time. For its 60th anniversary in 2014, Rialto Pictures will re-release the restored Japanese original envisioned by writer/director Ishiro Honda and SFX legend Eiji Tsuburaya including 40 minutes cut from the US release version. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or have yet to witness the original, uncut masterpiece, now is the perfect time to see how the epic saga began.
Afterwards join a Q&A with Gareth Edwards (2010’s Monsters), director of the new Godzilla from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures.
As for the new version: Monsters‘ Gareth Edwards directs the all-star cast including Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Johnson, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe, Richard T. Jones, Sally Hawkins, Akira Takarada, Victor Rasuk, Yuki Morita, C.J. Adams, and the newly announced Gary Chalk (Behemoth, Freddy vs. Jason, The Thaw, Watchmen).
In theaters May 16, 2014, an epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.
Making his first appearance in 1954 (Gojira), Godzilla is a giant monster that lives in the sea that comes from the ocean to feed on mankind.
