Resident Evil Showcase Gives Village Release Date, Demo, New Multiplayer Game
Capcom’s Resident Evil Showcase has happened, and we got some exciting news from it, including more stuff about Village, a demo, and a brand new game.
The biggest reason for the showcase was, of course, the Resident Evil Village gameplay. We got a chance to see some combat, which saw returning character Ethan Winters fighting what looked like zombies in a castle dungeon. We got to meet The Duke, a large man who sells Ethan things, along with the creepy vampire women that occupy the castle. A fight with one of them quickly goes wrong, as she keeps turning into a swarm of flys to avoid bullets.
After the demo was over there was a little more information about Resident Evil Village. We got to learn the game’s release date, which is May 7th. Capcom also announced the game will also be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in addition to the other platforms, with free upgrades available to next gen versions if you buy the earlier ones. Additionally, Capcom will offer “The Tragedy of Ethan Winters”, a collection of Village and Resident Evil VII: Biohazard.
Want to get your hands on it? If you own a PlayStation 5, there will be a demo available tonight exclusively on that platform. Titled The Maiden, this standalone chapter will see a woman trying to escape from the dungeon of the castle featured in the showcase. This demo is mostly featured on puzzles, stealth, and avoiding enemies, as there will be no combat in it.
After this, there was another major reveal: Re:Verse. This brand new game is a third-person competitive multiplayer shooter featuring all of your favorite characters throughout the franchise history. This includes regular characters, like Leon, Clair, and Hunk, to monstrous villains like Jack and Nemesis. The game also shoots for an interesting comic book art style, which really pops from the screen. Even better, anyone who gets Resident Evil Village will also get Re:Verse for free.
Resident Evil Village will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S on May 7th, 2021. You can add the game to your wishlist here.
