With every war come casualties, none greater than 13-year veteran Los Angeles narcotics officer Alonzo Harris (Washington), whose questionable methods blur the line between legal and corrupt. Today Alonzo gets a new partner, idealistic rookie Jake Hoyt (Hawke), and Jake has one day–and one day only–to prove his mettle to his fiercely charismatic superior. Training Day is that girl! So, I am happy Netflix added her after this last price increase. You have to give the people more Denzel Washington for their dollars. While this is clearly a Denzel vehicle, I hope we can also acknowledge that this is probably the best performance of Ethan Hawke’s career. However, everything about this film is almost perfect, which is why it is iconic.

Is Training Day your favorite Denzel Washington performance? Or do you think he has given better performances in other films? Let me know at @misssharai because I am nosey.
