Do you like monsters? What about stirring action? Maybe a dash of romance? Well, Netflix has what you’re looking for with Gyeongseong Creature, a South Korean web series created by Kang Eun-kyung and Chung Dong-yoon. Audiences of the series would agree that it delivers on each and every one of those aforementioned questions. net ranked on the worldwide Netflix charts last week and continues a healthy showing into the new year.

Check out a trailer and synopsis below.

Per Netflix: In the spring of 1945, a grim era of bitter darkness, a young man and woman struggle for survival while fighting monsters born out of human greed.

The first season was released in two parts. While Part 1 premiered as the year came to a close, the second part recently premiered on Netflix on January 5, 2024. Critics especially have been loving Gyeongseong Creature, calling it a monstrously good time. Expectedly, audiences feel much the same. In terms of South Korean genre fare, Netflix has performed especially well. While it’s doubtful Gyeongseong Creature will match the success of the likes of Squid Game (or even Squid Game: The Challenge), it will almost assuredly be another treat for international genre fans.
