This New Netflix Thriller Is Shocking Audiences Around The World: “The camels are not what they seem”

Animal attack movies are some of my favorites. Among the pantheon of horror subgenres, few get my blood pumping as much as seeing nature unleashed on some poor, unsuspecting folk, many of whom meet their demise upon trespassing where man doesn’t belong. Last year’s Beast is a personal favorite, and this summer’s Meg 2: The Trench (check out my review here) was a gonzo showcase of monstrous mayhem. Now, fans of animals run amok can check out Naga on Netflix, an absolutely wild ride featuring a vicious camel.

Check out a trailer and synopsis below:

Stranded in the desert after a secret party, a young woman must get past a vindictive camel—and worse—to make it home before curfew.

We’ve all been there at one point or another. Meshal Al Jaser’s Naga hails from Saudi Arabia, a rarity for genre films and, truthfully, Netflix releases in general. I’ve said before that for all Netflix’s faults (and make no mistake, there are many), it does at least endeavor to platform transnational cinema. While something like Naga might not have the streamer’s backing in terms of advertising and promotion, it has been generating considerable word-of-mouth. Genre fans have been loving the unpredictable, wild ride, and since release, they haven’t been able to stop talking about it.

Check out some choice reactions to the film below:

Fans have been loving the wild and weird ride. They, like me, have also been lamenting how little work the streamer has put into marketing it toward its target audience.

What do you think? Do you plan to check out Naga on Netflix? What other hidden gems have you discovered on the streamer this year? Let me know over on Twitter @Chadiscollins.
