“The best show I’ve watched in a while”: The #1 Netflix True Crime Thriller Also Has An Unmissable Documentary

It’s a two-for-one on this week’s Netflix thriller charts. Spanish-language series Burning Body and the accompanying documentary Rosa Peral’s Tapes have both cracked the Top 10 on the Netflix charts this week. In Burning Body, the death and immolation of a police officer sets investigators on a path toward the man’s girlfriend and new lover. The series highlights its true crime roots, with the accompanying Rosa Peral’s Tapes featuring the first-ever interview with perpetrator Rosa Peral since her conviction of murdering her ex-lover.

While Netflix grows more unsteady by the day, inundating audiences with new titles and series, the streamer is at its best in the true crime realm. Our own Tyler Doupe is regularly spotlighting some of the best true crime around, and the international fan response suggests Burning Body is another must-watch to be added to our ever-growing queues. Based on the colloquial “Crime of the Urban Guard,” critics are hailing Burning Body as a propulsive and chilling foray into a real-life tragedy.

Interestingly, the coinciding documentary also represents Rosa Peral’s first-ever interview on the matter, with Netflix reaching out to supplement the series with a stirring and chilling interview from prison. Fans can’t seem to get enough of the new series, calling it the best they’ve seen in a while. Check out what they’ve had to say of the show online below:

The true crime story feels right at home among Netflix’s sundry true crime offerings. Once you’ve checked off Burning Body, be certain to catch The Watcher, Murder by the Coast, Mindhunter, and Dirty John (a personal favorite).

With Netflix, this Halloween is the season of true crime. What do you think? Do you plan to check out Burning Body or Rosa Peral’s Tapes on Netflix? Let me know over on Twitter @Chadiscollins.
