Director Alex Garland is a visionary artist, creating incredible works such as Annihilation, Ex Machina, and the TV series DEVS. He has a distinct perspective and a knack for distilling the best and worst of humanity into poetic scripts. Now, he’s back with his latest film Men, which stars Academy Award nominee Jessie Buckley.
Men follows Harper (Buckley) after she suffers a personal tragedy. In an attempt to heal, she retreats alone to the beautiful English countryside. But someone or something from the surrounding woods appears to be stalking her. What begins as simmering dread becomes a fully-formed nightmare, inhabited by her darkest memories and fears.

With that glimpse of the Green Man in the trailer, this may just be Garland diving into the world of folk horror. Buckley is already an acting force to be reckoned with, as seen in films such as Beast and I’m Thinking Of Ending Things. Now, with a seemingly small cast and remote location, she’ll be able to continue to showcase her talents.
