Netflix’s Live-Action ‘Cowboy Bebop’ Gets November Premiere Date, Reveals First Images

Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop, Netflix’s forthcoming live-action revamp of the groundbreaking late-’90s anime series, is officially set to premiere November 19, 2021.

Like its source material, the new 10-episode saga sets Western tropes against an outer space backdrop. Cowboy Bebop stars John Cho as Spike Spiegel, a bounty hunter tasked with tracking the deadliest criminals in the galaxy alongside Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir) and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda).

The project has been four years in the making, with showrunner André Nemec (who wrote Mission Impossible — Ghost Protocol) overseeing a story scripted by Marvel mainstay Christopher Yost (Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok). Nemec is part of Midnight Studios, whose Jeff Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg all serve as co-exec producers on the series.

Netflix has confirmed that Shinichirō Watanabe, the director of the original anime, is a consultant on the live-action series, and original composer Yoko Kanno will score the new material.

In 2019, Netflix teased fans with a look at some behind-the-scenes action. Today, the streaming giant shared a collection of new images that give us a glimpse into its visual world.
