‘If I Go Missing, the Witches Did It’ Casts Gabourey Sidibe

Get out your pod-catchers! The Realm audio entertainment company is back with an all-new show. If I Go Missing, the Witches Did It will star the always excellent Gabourey Sidibe (Precious, American Horror Story), Deadline reports.

Realm is also currently developing not one, but three original fiction podcasts from John Carpenter. Carpenter’s Roanoke Falls, Angel to Some and Furnace will be available later this year and throughout 2022.

However, today’s news brings us out to the woods with the horror-satire series If I Go Missing The Witches Did It. Voice actor Sarah Natochenny (Ash Ketchum in Pokémon) rounds out the cast.

The plot revolves around a Black writer who goes missing, and the strange podcaster with a white savior complex who tries to find her. (Immediate subscribe.)

Of course, this isn’t the actor’s first foray into the world of serialized horror. Sidibe has starred in multiple seasons of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story. She was a standout in AHS: Coven where she played a human voodoo doll named Queenie. The character has been revived multiple times, with a standout performance in season five, AHS: Hotel.

The audio series will debut over nine episodes and premiere on Sunday, September 26. The series will drop new episodes on Sundays from then on out. You’ll be able to find If I Go Missing the Witches Did It on all podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Stitcher.

“We are thrilled to work with Gabourey, whose portrayal of New York writer Jenna Clayton will make you not only laugh hysterically but also engage critically with issues of race, class, and capitalism,” commented Molly Barton, the CEO and co-founder of Realm.

Sidibe commented on the gig, saying:

“I’m so excited to work with Realm on my first fiction podcast role! I was excited about this show as soon as I read Pia Wilson’s writing. It’s really relatable and hilarious. After gathering a large library of shows I listen to, I’m excited to now be included in the library of other people who enjoy losing themselves in a good story.”
