WATCH: Nightmarish First Trailer for Stop-Motion Fantasia MAD GOD

Mad God

Fans of weird, experimental horror can rejoice. The full trailer for Phil Tippett’s Mad God is here and it’s outrageous.

Mad God, a stop motion horror show that has been in the works for thirty years, will finally see its World Premiere at the Locarno Film Festival on August 5th.

Creator of the film is special effects guru Phil Tippett who is a major force in the constantly evolving landscape of visual effects and animation.

Tippett first began working on Mad God all the back in 1990 directly after he finished production on Robocop 2. He was again forced to pause work on the project to produce the iconic dinosaur effects on Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park

Decades later the effects master took to Kickstarter to finally finish work on Mad God. Ten years after that and Mad God is finally finished.

This trailer is everything we’ve ever wanted from a full-length horror stop motion extravaganza. It’s disgusting, thoughtful and truly magnificent.

The teaser showcases a character in a gas mask cautiously patrolling a dangerous and terrifying world. There are monsters, zombies and all sorts of disturbing imagery you best make sure to keep away from the kids. This uncanny valley of madness is going to rock your world.

While his film premieres at Locarno on August 5th, Tippett will also be the recipient of their Vision Award Ticinomoda. This is exciting news for the director, who is seeing the full-length version of the project on the big screen for the first time.

Tippett is responsible for the special effects on some the most important blockbusters ever produced. He has contributed to the original Star Wars trilogy, Robocop, Starship Troopers, The Twilight Saga and is the effects captain behind The Mandalorian
