Stephen Dorff Says Mahershala Ali Will Do BLADE Proud

Here’s what Dorff said to Saavi:
Mahershala will be incredible doing that, but you need strong writing and direction to help elevate that character, and I don’t know what Marvel’s vision is for Blade. I just know that Mahershala is a hell of an actor, and that he’ll be great in the role.
The actor recently found himself in a minor controversy when he declared Marvel’s Black Widow feature looked “like garbage” and that he was “embarrassed” for Scarlett Johansson. Dorff eventually backtracked on his harsh words after —you know— actually seeing the film.
Previous Blade star Wesley Snipes has also gone on record to support the casting of Ali. Even though his fanbase was none-too-pleased Blade had been recast in the forthcoming Marvel reboot, Snipes kept things cordial. When interviewed by ComicBook.com in 2019, he was asked about his thoughts on Mahershala Ali taking over. Snipes had nothing but kind words for Ali and supports him in resurrecting the franchise.

Earlier this year we learned that writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour (Watchmen) had been hired to write the reboot. And, just earlier this month, it was announced that Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli) is in talks to direct the upcoming Blade reboot for Marvel!
While there’s still no sense of when production will commence, Marvel is eyeing a 2022 drop date.
