RoboCop and Total Recall director Paul Verhoeven’s mega-budget adaptation of Robert A. Heinlein’s Starship Troopers starring Casper Van Dien, Denise Richards, Jake Busey, Neil Patrick Harris, and Michael Ironside hits Netflix in June.
Bring it on!
The super-violent flick begins in the distant future, the Earth is at war with a race of giant alien insects. Little is known about the Bugs except that they are intent on the eradication of all human life. But there was a time before the war… A Mobile Infantry travels to distant alien planets to take the war to the Bugs. They are a ruthless enemy with only one mission: Survival of their species.
Rated R or graphic sci-Fi violence and gore, and for some language and nudity, the film sports a 64% rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: A fun movie…if you can accept the excessive gore and wooden acting.
Paul Verhoeven directed the flick from a screenplay by Edward Neumeier based on the novel by Robert A. Heinlein. Sony Pictures released it on November 7, 1997.
