Up in the Air and Thank You For Smoking director Jason Reitman’s new Ghostbusters flick starring Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, and Paul Rudd hits in July 2020.
And today Coon let us know that the film is a real love letter to the franchise.
Specifically, she tells IndieWire: “I think the original script was really innovative. I don’t think anybody had seen anything quite like it before. It sort of launched a genre; there’s this comic sci-fi genre. Really, it was one of the first of its kind. Now we’ve had so many of those films. I think what’s remarkable that Jason has done is… a real love letter to the franchise.”
“It’s really a family story. It’s still very funny and I just feel like it’s very warm in a way that we, perhaps, need right now. It’s a real balm for the soul. I think that will actually surprise people. I think it’s for everyone. People will be grateful for the escape that it’s going to offer...”
