Confirmed: Rick Moranis Sitting Out GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE

Up in the Air and Thank You For Smoking director Jason Reitman’s new Ghostbusters flick starring Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, and Paul Rudd hits in July 2020.

And today we have confirmation via Vanity Fair – who visited the set of the new film – that even though we all hoped for a miracle, it looks like Rick Moranis does not return for the new movie.

Lame.

Moranis told THR when he was offered a cameo in Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters: “I wish them well. I hope it’s terrific. But it just makes no sense to me. Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?”

Jason Reitman directs Ghostbusters 2020 from a screenplay he wrote along with Gil Kenan (Monster House) based on the original film written by Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ivan Reitman. Ivan Reitman produces and the film stars Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, Logan Kim, Celeste O’Connor, Oliver Cooper, and Bokeem Woodbine.

It will also see the return of original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 cast including Bill Murray as Peter Venkman, Dan Aykroyd as Raymond Stantz, Ernie Hudson as Winston Zeddemore, Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett, and Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz.

Ghostbusters 2020 aka Ghostbusters 3 aka Ghostbusters: Afterlife is scheduled to be released in the United States via Sony Pictures Releasing on July 10, 2020.
