Producer Says Sequel to 2018’s THE NUN is “An Inevitability”
The demonic nun Valek (played by Bonnie Aarons) was a surprise scene-stealer in The Conjuring 2 (released in 2016) that she received a cameo in Annabelle: Creation (2017) and her own spinoff in the form of The Nun, directed by Corin Hardy and released last September. And while we know there’s another Annabelle movie coming down the pike (in addition to a 3rd Conjuring film in 2020) franchise producer Peter Safran revealed to EW that another Nun movie is in the earliest stages of pre-production.
“I think there is an inevitability to another Nun movie. We have a really fun storyline for that teed up, so I think that that’s the next one that will be written.”
2018’s The Nun made tenuous connections to demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, the anchors of The Conjuring universe played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga respectively. Whether or not The Nun 2 strengthens those ties remains to be seen.
It’ll be a while before anything solid develops with The Nun 2, but you can get your Conjuring fix with Annabelle Comes Home, arriving in US theaters nationwide on June 28th. Check out the synopsis and trailer for that film below.
Synopsis:
Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren lock the possessed doll in the artifacts room in their house. But when the doll awakens the room’s evil spirits, it soon becomes an unholy night of terror for the couple’s 10-year-old daughter, her friends, and their young baby sitter.
